Spyro’s wings notably use the inaccurate anatomy present in the original game; later titles gave it correct bat anatomy. Horizon has a second reference with the “Ready for the Proving” Trophy, awarded for shooting a Spitter’s shot with the bow and arrow in Raytrace Ruins. kuwin com gets a second reference in the “It’s All in the Mind” Trophy, awarded for beating three enemies quickly with Punches. The update released for all PlayStation 5 users without warning today, bringing a handful of new goodies, a new area, and even a few new missions to complete. It’s enough content to keep you busy for around an hour or so longer, but considering Astro’s Playroom came free for anyone who owns a PS5, it’s more than enough reason to celebrate. PlayStation and Team Asobi have dropped a surprise update for Astro’s Playroom in celebration of the reveal of its full-fledged Astro title, Astro Bot. Maybe the most impressive piece of the PlayStation 5 hardware is its new controller, but it’ll only be as good as the games that support it. Transcending its role as an introduction to the PS5’s features, Astro’s Playroom is a quick and delightful celebration of PlayStation’s history.

Upon jumping into the Cooling Springs level, I didn’t have to play long before feeling just how next-gen this controller is. Walking on the sand in this level provides feedback in the controller that actually feels like you’re on sand. Later in the level you’ll be in a frog robot suit equipped with a spring on the bottom of it. By holding the R2 trigger down you’ll press that spring down to jump and as you are doing it you feel the resistance in the trigger.

Astro once again controls really well in this game although our adorable robot friend doesn’t have as deep a move set as a certain plumber does. Astro can jump, punch enemies, and perform a spin attack but that’s about it for the main move set. That was never a problem though as the game is constantly introducing new things for you to use to show off that controller and it feels really good all the way through. Every level has you trying to reach the goal at the end while collecting gold coins along the way.

Should You Try Out Astro’s Playroom In 2025?

The game is about playing as a survivor of a zombie infestation who must find and lead stranded civilians to safety. It’s notable for using satellite imagery from Google Earth to render its cities. On another table in the Labo area is a purple dragon surrounded by red Gems. This is a reference to 1998’s Spyro the Dragon on PS1, developed by Insomniac Games.

I can’t imagine playing it with a standard controller — though I’m sure my family hopes I run out of new discoveries soon. I’ve developed an incredibly annoying habit while playing Astro’s Playroom. If for some reason you don’t like blowing into your controller’s microphone, just turn it off. When you encounter a windmill in the game, the interaction will start automatically. EE can help you get everything you need from consoles, to games, to connectivity.

They often involve interacting with the environment in creative ways or revisiting areas with new knowledge. Completing these hidden challenges rewards players with unique trophies and a deeper connection to the game’s world‚ making the platinum journey even more satisfying. Earning Gold Trophies in Astro Playroom demands exceptional skill and precision. These trophies are tied to challenging tasks like speedrunning specific levels or completing difficult sections without taking damage. One notable trophy requires defeating a boss using only melee attacks‚ while another involves navigating a tricky obstacle course flawlessly. Players must master the game’s mechanics and explore optimized routes to succeed.

On the capsule itself, we included a small hint showing the image of a clock. Looking carefully around the level nearby, you will find a similar clock symbol carved into one of the trees up above. [edit] Memory Meadow guide is a bit wrong, no point getting the canister with a net in it at the start as you need your hands free to pull out the two cables to walk across first. If you’re having trouble getting those new messages to pop up, you might try waiting until you’ve completed the relatively short game’s main campaign. We had trouble getting the message to appear on a new save file but saw it immediately upon entering a completed one.

Once inside, the game turns into a side-scrolling platformer, as Astro is able to launch itself to the left or right using a giant spring in its legs. The illusion is incredible, making me feel way more connected to the events on screen than I would without this tension. The fun is to explore locations, jump between platforms and perform simple puzzles. From time to time, we also find enemies that we can avoid or overpower with fast punches. Adding the PS5 Pro Artifact could be a good excuse for players to return to Astro’s Playroom. The game also has one of the easiest platinum trophies on PS5, so completing all levels can be quite rewarding as well.

With no missable trophies‚ players can enjoy a stress-free journey to 100% completion‚ making the experience both fun and achievable for all skill levels. Trophies also add replay value‚ challenging players to revisit worlds and unlock everything the game has to offer. Unlocking the Platinum Trophy in Astro Playroom is an achievable and enjoyable journey‚ taking approximately 5-7 hours. The game is designed to be accessible‚ with no missable trophies‚ allowing a stress-free experience. Completing the story‚ collecting all puzzle pieces‚ artifacts‚ and rescuing special bots are the main requirements.

This is a great game to play with the family, not only as a demo of the new controller but as a game that will hold your attention for a considerable time. Also, because of the different skills required, you may find a wider audience of players than usual platform games. In the game, you control your little character as he jumps, dodges and explores his way around the levels. Unlike other platform games, this has a trick up its sleeve in the form of the DualSense controller’s ability to let you feel your way around levels. Other stages are linear platforming challenges that use Astro’s laser-powered hover-jump.

Each of the four main zones are themed after hardware concepts such as the SSD Speedway and the Cooling Springs. Cooling Springs for example is chocked full of various PS3 models, the PS Sharp Shooter gun, the PSP, Vita, and so on. Astro’s Playroom is not that game, as it’s quite short and still at least 50% tech demo, but since so few will ever get to play Rescue Mission it’s an important step towards that goal. It’s also free with every new PlayStation 5, so it’s the one game that you can almost guarantee everyone will play – and it gives a very good first impression. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Once you reach the section of the level where it is raining, before going up the dark wall, jump to the platform on the right to reach this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – Right at the start of the level, look down and to the left to see a group of three of the spinnable flowers.

Astro’s Playroom guide and walkthrough contains Beginner’s Guide, Trophy Guide, best tips and a complete walkthrough. The game does not force us to go through each location in a specific order. In our guide, we divided these locations based on the chronology of the PlayStation generations. PlayStation made a name for itself with exclusive titles, and titles like Helldivers 2 and Returnal show off the PS5’s tech.

Codenamed Project Morpheus, the PlayStation VR was Sony’s first virtual reality headset, featuring twin 120hz OLED displays with 100 degrees field of view, an integrated microphone, and motion sensors. It required the PlayStation Camera as it used the same tracking technology used for the PlayStation Move. Move controllers were also used for the hand-tracking controllers, although some games used the DualShock 4. The DualShock Controller is one of the most recognizable pieces of PlayStation history, and replaced the original pad as the pack-in controller. It added twin analog sticks (which could be pressed in for L3 and R3), a small and large rumble motor in either handle, and increased the height of the L2 and R2 buttons.
